1. Try to organize your TMB in reverse order (clockwise): this may allow you to find different availabilities dates at refuges.
2. Try to contact the huts directly, don’t only rely on online availabilities.
3. Ask huts that are full on your dates to recommend alternatives nearby.
4. Try to use a travel agency that is specialized in TMB. Huts sometimes hold space for agency clients.
No, we only have shared dorms. If you wish to sleep in a private room, you have to go down to the valley in Les Praz or in Chamonix where you can find this option.
It is mandatory to arrive before 6pm. You can arrive at any time you want, but you must arrive before 6pm.
Yes please ! We don’t provide slippers nor flip-flops anymore, please bring your own 🙂
No, we do not offer this service. Each person must be able to bring his or her own belongings to the refuge.
We don’t have a laundry room. If necessary, you are free to wash a few items by hand and air-dry your laundry if the weather is fine.
No, we don’t have wifi. However, we have 4G.
Bivouac is allowed, under the conditions indicated in the bivouac tab.
We don’t have a grocery store, but a 1h walk (or 5min gondola ride) will take you to a grocery store in the village of Les Praz.
We do not serve lunch, only snacks and drinks. For lunch, you have the choice with 4 places to eat nearby: the Adret restaurant (2 min walk), the Tendance Foehn snack bar (2 min walk), Les 2 Aigles (10 min walk), the snack bar Là-Haut at the top station of the Index (5 min by chairlift).
It is not uncommon to find snow on the trails until the end of June and around mid-September, especially at the passes (Col du Brévent, etc…). If you plan to do your TMB during this period, we advise you to be well equipped with a pair of crampons and poles for example. You can also ask La Chamoniarde for more information.
No. Nor is there access to an outside tap when the refuge is closed. Bring warm gear and water filters if you plan to bivouac in the area outside summer.
NO. We strongly advise against drinking river water directly: there are many cattle and animals in the mountains, so the risk of becoming ill is not negligible. We recommend using a filter or micropure tablets to filter the water.
